Eric Lombard stands at a crossroads: does he pursue his lifelong dream of playing professional football or switch to a more practical path by applying to law school? To cope with the stress of this decision, he travels with his longtime girlfriend, Colleen, to Florence to visit his cousin. Eric's world is upended, however, when Colleen rejects his marriage proposal while on the trip. A path toward rebuilding his life opens up for Eric, though, through the medieval Florentine sport of Calcio Storico—as well as a budding love he finds in a local Italian woman.
